I was in my tree stand just
minutes before the legal time to shoot. I was enjoying the sounds of nature
coming alive around me.
At about 8:00 am I heard
something just to the south of my stand, I slowly looked over my right
shoulder, Just stepping out of the pine trees less than 10 yards from me was a
6 point buck, nice body with a basket rack. Seeing as how I am a meat
hunter, this was a shooter buck! But I had no way of drawing without being
totally busted. So I watched him walk to the east into a row of trees. Not 2
minutes later I hear something from the North. I looked back over my left
shoulder. Heading directly towards me was this nice 10 point buck. As he was
walking towards me I drew down on him. Just as he looked right up at me, I shot
him at 20 yards right in the neck severing his artery. It was an easy trail to
follow. He went approx. 100 yards and was fully bled out. It was a fun and
successful day.
